Historic Houses & Gardens – 2012 EDITION

The famous national historic houses and gardens annual ‘Hudsons’ has just published its 25th anniversary issue. Hudsons is famous for its comprehensive coverage of British houses and gardens and has a distinguished foreword by HRH The Prince of Wales. Edited by local born Nick McCann it includes in its foreword a galaxy of what Hudsons calls ‘Heroes & Heroines’ bringing Britain’s brilliant heritage alive and amongst them are names such as art critic Brian Sewell, TV broadcasters Loyd Grossman and Lucinda Lampton, aristocrats Sir Richard Fitzherbert, The Dowager Countess Cawdor, the Duchess of Rutland and local men, broadcaster and lawyer Geoffrey Bond and Landscape Gardener Jonathan Wild; their fascinating contributions give their take on heritage, in the case of Geoffrey Bond talking to Tim Knox, Director of London’s extraordinary and fascinating Soane Museum and Jonathan Wild, talking about Gertrude Jekyll’s famous garden on Holy Island and the staggering gardens at Alnwick Castle recently reconstructed by the Duchess of Northumberland.
