Having a disabled family member meant that the garden had to be wheelchair friendly – allowing access to sitting areas and on to a main sitting area large enough to manoeuvre properly. The design had also to take into account the slope in the garden and the requirement for a suitable utility area for a greenhouse and shed. The main lawn area had to be re-levelled and a large raised bed around the patio to deal effectively with the change of level. Natural stone paving and smaller natural stone setts were used to create the sitting areas and pathways and the lawn was edged with the same setts to create continuity and for ease of maintenance.
